I'm looking for a new...

Remember Jodie Watley's 80's song, "Looking for a New Love"?  That's what's going through my head now as I think about my quest.  Not for a new love, but a new shampoo.

I currently use the SL starter shampoo and only every three weeks.  Why?  It was the suggestion of my locktician (who I LOVE). My locks are over a year old and I still have a few relaxed ends (there's a method to cutting relaxed ends on Sisterlocked hair).

I have beautiful SLs.  She says so; everyone says so, but the dry, itchy scalp thing bothers me.  I work out at least 3 times a week (on a bad week) and between Zumba workouts, Pilates and weightlifting, I need to cleanse my scalp or I'm constantly scratching. Before SLs, I washed my hair once a week and did deep conditioning treatments once a month.  Now, I wash my hair every three weeks and in between shampoos, I rinsed with an ACV rinse. After having issues with the ACV rinse causing an imbalance in my body's PH balance (a vinegar smell when I sweated and deodorants no longer working) I switched to Komaza Care.

Komaza Care's Herbal tea rinse is an ACV that has peppermint, rosemary and aloe vera (to name a few).  My only complaint is that the bottle isn't larger:)  That's why I dilute the mixture in a separate bottle so I can have more rinses and to save money.

Now, I'm gathering information about shampoos that I can use on my hair without interfering with my SL lock process and journey.  A few things that I am considering are:
-Knotty Boy shampoo - states it will help the hair during the loc process
-Video Locktician shampoo - several testimonials comment on the wonderful smell and softness of their locks after using the products
-Aveda's Rosemary and Mint shampoo - A friend with SLs suggested this, as well as a few blogs.

I only list them because I someone out there can tell me about their experiences or give me any suggestions.

I'll keep you posted.

Commitment

I didn't fully commit to transitioning until March 2010. It was after I finally decided to stop putting chemicals in my hair, as well as promise myself to do what I had to do in order to lessen my chances of losing more hair (more on that later).

Later is now:)
About two years before I began transitioning, I noticed that had thin spots around my hairline.  At first, I tried various "potions". hairline creams, castor oil, coconut oil. At some point or another, I rubbed these "potions" in the spots.  I got bangs December 2010.  Loved them!  But I didn't like the fact that I felt I would be forced to wear bangs forever in order to hide the thin, balding spots.

Prior to this, I had always discussed going natural. I said I would get locks once it was time to retire.  As the years went on, I realized that natural hair was something I could have now, as a professional.  I also realized that Sisterlocks (something I had seen 10 years prior) were something I could have while growing out a relaxer and would prove to be versatile once complete.
